Fire-Safe Standards
Fire-safe ball valves are commonly certified to API 607 (soft-seated) or API 6FA (for valve types covered by API 6D). Passing fire testing means the valve limits leakage after exposure to a standardized fire scenario.
Seat Material Considerations
- Soft seats: better sealing, may require secondary metal seat for fire integrity
- Metal seats: fire safe by design, higher operating torque
- Confirm the required test duration and acceptance leakage class
